COVERSA is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to providing quality, compassionate post sexual assault patient care and improving community collaboration efforts as it relates to sexual assault education and prevention.  COVERSA’s mission is to provide victims of sexual violence with immediate, compassionate and competent forensic medical services.

Victims of violence and abuse require care from a health professional who is trained to treat the trauma associated with the wrong that has been done to them—be it sexual assault, intimate partner violence, neglect, or other forms of intentional injury. Forensic nurses are also a critical resource for anti-violence efforts. They collect evidence and give testimony that can be used in a court of law to apprehend or prosecute perpetrators who commit  violent and abusive acts.  “What Is Forensic Nursing.” IAFN, www.forensicnurses.org/page/WhatisFN.

If you or someone you know is in need of assistance following a sexual assault please contact MOCSA or call 816-531-0233. They provide 24-Hour support.
